Clifton Hill runs just 400 metres from the intersection of Victoria Avenue down to Queen Victoria Park and the edge of the Niagara Gorge, and in those 400 metres it packs more neon, noise, laughter, and sensory overload than almost any single street in Canada. The Niagara SkyWheel, Canada's largest observation Ferris wheel. Evening visits (6โ10 PM) are by far the best. This is when the neon signs illuminate, the SkyWheel blazes against the dark sky, the restaurants are at their most atmospheric, and the crowds, while larger, add to the carnival energy rather than just creating queues. On fireworks nights (MayโOct), position yourself to walk back toward Queen Victoria Park at 9:50 PM to watch the 10 PM fireworks from the falls promenade.
Daytime visits are better for families with young children who need to be in bed before the evening peak, the attractions, restaurants, and shops are all open and queues are shorter. Rainy days are ideal for indoor attractions (IMAX, Palace of Fun Arcade, Wizard's Golf, laser tag).

"We spent three hours on Clifton Hill after the falls visits and it was the highlight of our kids' trip, which tells you something. The Dinosaur Golf was the unanimous winner. Our 8-year-old went round twice. The SkyWheel at night with the falls visible below and all the neon around us was genuinely magical. Our guide from Visiting Niagara Falls timed our arrival perfectly for the evening illumination start, we walked to the falls promenade after Clifton Hill and saw the falls turn violet right on cue. An absolutely perfectly planned day."

"We arrived in October deliberately for the Halloween season. Clifton Hill in October is extraordinary, the haunted houses add live actors for the season, the entire street has additional horror theming, and there is a genuinely spooky atmosphere in the evenings. The Haunted House had me grabbing my wife's arm four separate times and I am not a person who scares easily. The combination of Halloween Clifton Hill + the illuminated falls (lit in orange and purple for Halloween week) + the falls fireworks made for one of the best evenings of our trip to Canada."

"I am a solo traveller and I was not sure Clifton Hill would work for me, it seemed designed for groups and families. I was wrong. I spent a solo evening on the strip, ate an excellent meal at Hard Rock (the staff at the bar were genuinely good company), walked the strip slowly from top to bottom watching all the neon and the street performers, and rode the SkyWheel alone at 9:30 PM with the falls illuminated below me. The gondola had panoramic windows on all sides. It was, strangely, one of the most peaceful 12 minutes of the entire trip."
