This is when the neon signs illuminate, the SkyWheel blazes against the dark sky, the restaurants are at their most atmospheric, and the crowds — while larger — add to the carnival energy rather than just creating queues. On fireworks nights (May–Oct), position yourself to walk back toward Queen Victoria Park at 9:50 PM to watch the 10 PM fireworks from the falls promenade.

If you want noise, neon, fun, and an unreasonable number of things to do with two children who have had a wonderful day at the actual falls and now need somewhere to be energetically joyful for three more hours — Clifton Hill is perfect. We did the arcade, the Guinness Records museum, an enormous dinner at Boston Pizza, and the SkyWheel. My children talked about the SkyWheel for the entire flight home. Mission accomplished."
