The American Side in Half a Day
If you only do two things on the New York side, make them these. Cave of the Winds puts you on wooden decks about 20 feet from the base of Bridal Veil Falls, close enough that the spray arrives like weather. The Maid of the Mist takes you the other way, out onto the water and into the mist at the foot of the Horseshoe. Together they are the American side, and this half-day trip covers both.

Cave of the Winds
An elevator drops you to gorge level and wooden walkways climb toward the Hurricane Deck, the platform closest to Bridal Veil Falls. The water lands feet away and the noise makes conversation pointless. Sandals and a poncho are handed out at the top for good reason.
Goat Island & All Three Falls
Dry off on the walk while your guide takes you onto Goat Island, the strip of land that sits between the waterfalls. From here you can see the Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls, with Terrapin Point looking straight across the Horseshoe brink and Luna Island tucked between the two smaller falls.
Maid of the Mist
Finish on the water. The boat passes the American and Bridal Veil Falls before turning into the Horseshoe basin, where the falls close in on three sides. Having already been under Bridal Veil, you will notice how differently the same water feels from below and from out front.
