Niagara Falls State Park
Start where the park was founded in 1885. Prospect Point puts you at the brink of the American Falls, and the Goat Island viewpoints look across Terrapin Point to the Horseshoe. Mornings here are quiet, the light is soft, and the coach parties have not arrived.
Cave of the Winds and the Hurricane Deck
From mid May to early November you descend 175 feet into the gorge and climb the wooden walkways to the Hurricane Deck, close enough to Bridal Veil Falls that the spray arrives like weather. Out of season the Cave Gorge Trip and the World Changed Here Pavilion take its place.
Maid of the Mist Boat Ride
Board North America's oldest boat tour and sail past the American and Bridal Veil Falls into the mist of the Horseshoe basin. You will be handed a poncho, you will get wet anyway, and it will be the photo you show people first.
Crossing the Rainbow Bridge
The two downtowns sit ten minutes apart across the gorge. Your guide walks you through the formalities and explains what to have ready, then the view opens up as you cross with the falls on one side and the whirlpool gorge on the other. Have your passport in hand.
Table Rock & the Horseshoe Panorama
The Canadian shore is about the wide view. Stand at Table Rock where the water bends over the brink beside you, then walk the Parkway promenade for the angle that takes in all three waterfalls at once. Afternoon light lands on the face of the falls, and rainbows form in the spray on clear days.
The Old Scow and the Floral Clock
On the Canadian side you pass the Old Scow, the steel barge stuck in the rapids above the falls since 1918, and the Floral Clock further along the Parkway, whose face is planted out in thousands of bedding plants and changed twice a year.
Return Across the Border
You recross to the American side in the late afternoon and finish where you started. If you are staying the night, ask your guide where to watch the nightly illumination from, it runs every evening of the year and costs nothing.

Your pickup time is earlier than the start time printed on your voucher, so contact Over the Falls Tours after booking to confirm it. If you are making your own way, the meeting points are the Continental Pancake House, the Home Depot and the Aquarium of Niagara, all with parking. Bring your passport, and call at least 24 hours ahead to reconfirm the border crossing requirements.
