    Do you need a passport to visit both sides of Niagara Falls?+

    Yes. Crossing between the USA and Canada over the Rainbow Bridge requires a valid passport, or a NEXUS or enhanced ID where eligible, and infants need their own passport too. If you stay on one side, no crossing is needed and both sides are spectacular on their own.

    Which side of Niagara Falls is better, the USA or Canada?+

    The Canadian side has the panoramic postcard view looking straight at the Horseshoe Falls, plus Journey Behind the Falls and Skylon Tower. The American side puts you closer to the water at Cave of the Winds and inside America's oldest state park, which is free to enter. Choose Canada for views, the USA for proximity.

    Can you see Niagara Falls in one day?+

    Comfortably, yes, if you stay on one side. Pick two or three paid attractions, walk the promenade between them, and stay for the nightly illumination. The planner builds a one-day route that avoids backtracking.

    Do the Niagara Falls boat tours run all year?+

    No. Niagara City Cruises on the Canadian side and Maid of the Mist on the American side run roughly May to November, while the river is ice-free. Journey Behind the Falls, Skylon Tower and the indoor attractions stay open year-round.

    Is Niagara Falls worth visiting in winter?+

    For many visitors it is the most memorable season. The mist freezes onto the trees and railings, crowds thin out, hotel rates fall, and the Winter Festival of Lights runs from mid-November into January. The boats do not operate, so plan around Journey Behind the Falls and the viewpoints.

    What is the best time of day to see Niagara Falls?+

    Early morning has the shortest queues and the softest light. Late afternoon gives the best rainbows over the Horseshoe Falls on sunny days. Stay after dark for the illumination, which runs every night of the year.

    How do you get around Niagara Falls without a car?+

    Both sides are comfortably walkable in their core. On the Canadian side the WEGO bus links the falls, Clifton Hill and the hotel districts. On the American side everything in Niagara Falls State Park is on foot. Crossing the Rainbow Bridge between them takes about ten minutes on foot.

    Where should you stay in Niagara Falls?+

    Fallsview hotels on the Canadian side give you the view from your room at a premium. The American side is quieter and cheaper and puts you next to the state park. The planner suggests a hotel to match your budget tier and estimates the nightly cost.

    Is Niagara Falls wheelchair accessible?+

    Largely yes. The main promenades on both sides are flat and paved, the boats board by ramp, and Journey Behind the Falls has elevator access to its upper observation deck.     Is Niagara Falls good for families with young children?+

    Very. The falls themselves are free to view, the promenades are stroller-friendly, and the Butterfly Conservatory, Clifton Hill and the Aquarium of Niagara are built for kids. Children under three usually ride free on laps at the attractions.

    Can you bring a dog to Niagara Falls?+

    Leashed pets are welcome in the outdoor parks, including Niagara Falls State Park and along the Niagara Parkway. They cannot board the boats or enter the indoor attractions, so plan to take turns or book a local pet daycare. Service animals are permitted throughout.

    Will you get wet at Niagara Falls?+

    On the boat ride, and at the lower decks of Journey Behind the Falls and Cave of the Winds, yes. Ponchos are provided at each. Bring a zip bag or lanyard for your phone, and expect to dry off within minutes on a warm day.

    What should you pack for Niagara Falls?+

    Comfortable waterproof shoes matter most. Add layers for the mist, which is cold even in summer. In winter bring a hat and gloves; in summer bring sunscreen. The planner produces a packing checklist tailored to your month and group.
