Best Time to Visit
Early morning (9:00–10:00 AM) gives the shortest queues, best light for photography, and fewer people on deck. Mid-week visits (Tuesday–Thursday) are significantly less crowded than weekends. June is less crowded than July–August with equal weather.
What to Wear & Bring
- Sandals or waterproof shoes, your feet will get wet
- Quick-dry clothes or a spare outfit, you will get soaked
- Waterproof phone case or a dry bag for electronics
- Sunscreen for the upper deck on sunny days
- Leave large bags in your car or a locker ($5 at boarding)
Photography Tips
Use your phone in a waterproof case or a dedicated waterproof camera, you will not stay dry. Front-deck rail positions give the most dramatic shots but the most spray. The boat's observation deck at the stern stays drier. Golden-hour morning light (9–10 AM) creates the most magical rainbow-in-mist conditions.
Insider Tips
- Stay on the boat for the full circuit, don't move inside when it gets wet. The last 5 minutes at the falls are the most spectacular.
- The front-left rail as you face the falls gives the best perspective of the full Horseshoe Falls curtain
- Go twice, morning for photos, afternoon to just experience it without worrying about your camera
- Combine with Cave of the Winds on the same day for the ultimate USA-side water experience
Not Suitable For
Guests with severe heart conditions or serious mobility impairments should consult their physician before boarding. The boat can create significant movement in high water conditions. Service animals are welcome on board. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times on deck.
Cancellation & Weather Policy
Our skip-the-line tickets come with free cancellation up to 24 hours before your visit. Maid of the Mist operates in light rain (it's a falls attraction, getting wet is the point). In rare severe weather closures, the attraction refunds at the gate or we'll rebook you free of charge.
