Three Courses While the Light Goes
The evening opens at the table, at a Fallsview restaurant with the water in the window. Three courses, paced deliberately so you finish as the daylight drains out rather than halfway through dessert when the floodlights come on. Dietary requirements go to the kitchen in advance if you mention them at booking.
Onto the River After Dark
Down to the dock and out into the basin at the base of the falls, which is a different place at night. The floodlights are on the water above you, the mist glows where the beams catch it, and the noise is the same as it is at midday but you cannot see the far bank. Ponchos are handed out. You will get somewhat damp.
Fireworks, From Directly Below
On scheduled nights the display goes up over the gorge while the boat is on the water, so you are looking straight up at it with the lit falls behind. It is the angle nobody standing on the promenade gets. Fireworks are seasonal and weather can postpone them, which the crew will tell you before you sail rather than after.
Your Turn at the Illumination Controls
The evening finishes at the Illumination Tower, where the nightly lighting of the falls is run from.
